In December, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released the Annual Performance Report. The APR is a tool used by DESE to review the performance and continuous improvement of each school district in the state. The Woodland R-IV School District is pleased to announce that the APR score rose 9.3% from last year. Our current APR is 85.4% placing us in the top 15% of all school districts in the state.
This improvement is thanks to our wonderful teachers and staff and our hard-working students! #CardinalPride
Congratulations to the FFA Big Buck Contest winners: 1st place - Peyton King, 2nd Place - Korbin Kinder, and Teeniest Tiniest Buck - DJ Douglas.
The high school Carpentry, Woodworking, and Conservation of Natural Resources classes milled lumber from a sassafras log that was harvested from the school's farm. The boards will be used for future student projects.
The Woodland High School Jazz Band and Choir Concert was held on December 14. The musical performances included several duets and solos. #CardinalPride

On December 7, Woodland High School students in grades 10-11 toured the Cape Career and Technology Center. Students visited with instructors and learned about the CTC's high school programs. Applications for these programs will be available early 2024. The tours were led by Woodland's CTC Ambassadors, Macie Grindstaff, Lindsey Green, and Jase Massa.

On December 7th, ALL Sophomores and interested Juniors are encouraged to attend a field trip to the Cape Career & Technology Center to learn about their programs. Permission slips are in the HS office and due December 1st.

Congratulations to Rhodie Long for making the SCAA All-Conference volleyball team. The Lady Cardinals are proud of Rhodie and her volleyball accomplishments this year!
On behalf of the Woodland R-IV School District, I offer the Laurie Long family our warmest sympathies. Laurie was an outstanding teacher in the Woodland School District for over 25 years and continued to teach, mentor, and show compassion to others during her courageous battle with cancer. On last Friday, we lost Mrs. Long.
The funeral arrangements have been set for this Wednesday, November 15th, starting at 10:00 AM. The Woodland staff, students, and community will be present at the visitation and funeral. Thus, the district will not be in session on Wednesday.
The district will be in session on Tuesday, November 14th with grief counselors available for students and staff. We will close on Wednesday, November 15th, and reopen on Thursday, November 16th.
We will continue to keep the family of Laurie Long in our thoughts and prayers.

Woodland XC welcome back celebration will take place in the HS Gym. Doors will open at 8:30 tonight, with the team arriving probably closer to 9:00. Go Cardinals!
