Picture of Damien Gills

Damien Alexander Gills was born on November 17, 2003. He is the son of Julie and Darrin Hoffman. He has four siblings: Jacque Bray, Tony Boitnott, and Candice and Deanna Hoffman. Damien is involved in marching band and jazz band. His favorite teacher is Mr. Shrum, green is his favorite color, and Tofu is his favorite food.

When Damien was younger, he wanted to be a rockstar, he now plans on going to SIU and is going to be a music teacher and wants to travel with his band. His favorite high school memory is playing guitar behind his head at one of the band concerts. His most embarrassing memory from high school is “the time I ripped the crotch out of my pants and had to duct tape it.” The thing he will miss most about high school is having extra guitars in band all the time. When asked about his thoughts on graduating, Damien said “I'm so ready to leave Marble Hill.” His advice to underclassmen is “Life is about perspective, so be open and have willingness to change.”

His biggest accomplishment is his guitar shop and his music. The people who have had the greatest influence in his life are Ozzy Osbourne and Jerry Garcia “because of the difficulties they faced and still made music.”

Damien would like to give a shoutout to Julie Hoffman, Elijah Franklin and Veda Cornell.
