Abigail DeWitt was born on January 28, 2008, and is the daughter of Suann and Josh DeWitt. She has one sibling, Logan DeWitt. Abby’s favorite teacher is Mrs. Stegeman, who supported her throughout high school and constantly reminded her how far she had come. In three words, Abby describes herself as adaptable, hard-working, and last-minute. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would choose Iceland to experience its breathtaking landscapes—and the lack of bugs. Abby has been involved in FFA, FCCLA, Beta, FCA, and Cross Country throughout high school. Her favorite school memory is placing second as a team at the Cross-Country State Meet during her sophomore year.
When Abby was younger, she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. She plans to attend Murray State University for her undergraduate studies, then continue to Mizzou for veterinary school, and eventually specialize as a veterinary ophthalmologist. Her advice to underclassmen is, “Act mature starting as a freshman, and be nice to your teachers—it will get you far in high school.” Abby is excited to graduate and begin college, where she looks forward to making new friends, but she is also nervous and sad about moving away from home. She will miss the relationships she’s built and seeing her friends and teachers every day. Abby says her parents have had the greatest influence on her because “they taught me how to navigate life and have always been my rock.” Her greatest accomplishment so far is how much more outgoing she has become compared to who she used to be.
