Laci Detjen was born on June 8, 2008. She’s the daughter of Josh Detjen and Tonya Sedgwick and has three siblings: Paityn Huffman, Landon Detjen, and Eli Huffman. Laci has played softball all four years of high school. In three words, she describes herself as funny, loving, and outgoing. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Balzer because “she always believed in me.” Laci’s favorite staff quote came from Coach Lynch, who once said, “Wow, you’re on time today!” If Laci could travel anywhere, she’d go to Paris because it’s beautiful and she wants to see the Eiffel Tower. Some of her favorite high school memories come from Family Fridays in Mrs. Balzer’s advisory class.
When she was younger, Laci wanted to be a doctor, but now she plans to attend SEMO and earn a degree in social work. Her advice to underclassmen is simple but meaningful: “Don’t wish it away so fast.” Laci was nervous about graduating at first, but now she’s excited. She knows she’ll miss her friends the most since she won’t get to see them every day. Her biggest influences are her mom and dad, who have sacrificed a lot for her and always pushed her to do better while still being her biggest supporters. Laci believes her greatest accomplishment so far is being so close to graduating.
