Tahara Zhen James was born on November 1, 2007, to Tonya and Donald James. She’s involved in FCCLA. Tahara has four siblings and describes herself in three words: happy, hyper, and funny. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Moses because “he always listens to tea time in jazz band class and fake argues with us, which is funny.” Her favorite staff quote is also from him: “Go away.” If Tahara could travel anywhere, she’d go to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower. Her favorite school memories are goofing off in the jazz band room, making pyramids, and playing games. Her most embarrassing moment? Ripping her pants after falling in the hallway during jazz band class.
When she was younger, Tahara wanted to be an actor. After high school, she plans to attend SEMO to become an outdoor salesperson, then transfer to Missouri State to take clothing design classes. Her advice to underclassmen: “Be confident and be yourself. Don’t be scared to fall or put yourself out there. Go dance in front of everyone, participate, and don’t let other people stop you.” Tahara is excited but also sad to leave high school—she’s ready for what’s next but will really miss her friends and all the tea talks. Her biggest influence is her mom, who’s always there for her, pushing her forward and answering her calls (even though she calls 24/7). She feels her biggest accomplishment is getting into SEMO.
