Lauryn Nicole Shetley was born on December 28, 2007, to Jo and John Shetley. She has two siblings, Talon Shetley and Nicole Liley. She is involved in FFA, FCA, and is a member of the cross-country team. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Stegeman because she always pushed Lauryn to do her best, especially when she didn’t understand something. She also appreciates Mrs. Balzer for her constant joyfulness, her advisory teacher, Mr. Ridings, and Mr. Boyer. Three words Lauryn uses to describe herself are supportive, helpful, and kind. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would visit Jackson Hole, Wyoming, because she loves its scenery and mountains and has always dreamed of going there. Her favorite school memory is going to state her sophomore year and earning 2nd place with the girls' team.
As a child, Lauryn dreamed of becoming a dentist or a baker. After high school, she plans to attend CTC in Cape to earn her LPN license, work at St. Francis Hospital, and then complete an online program to become an RN. Her advice to underclassmen: “Don’t blink, because high school goes by fast. Make sure you work hard to achieve your goals.” When asked how she feels about graduating, she says, “It feels unreal that high school is almost over, but now I get to go to school to become a nurse and achieve my dreams.” The two things she will miss most about high school are her friends and the memories they created together. The people who have influenced her the most are her grandma and her uncle Matt, who taught her to stay strong even when struggling mentally or physically. Lauryn considers keeping up with school while staying dedicated to cross-country to be her biggest accomplishment.
