Cadence Grace Merrell was born on December 14, 2007, to Crystal and Stephen Merrell. She has one brother, Jared. Throughout high school, she has been involved in BETA, FCCLA, FFA, PEP Club, FCA, FBLA, and has participated in volleyball, cheer, and track. Her favorite staff member is Ms. Braswell because “she’s funny, easy to talk to, and always pushes you to do your best.” If Cadence could describe herself in three words, she would choose determined, loyal, and trustworthy. Her dream travel destination is the Maldives because it’s beautiful and the perfect getaway. One of her favorite school memories is participating in homecoming week each year.
When she was younger, Cadence wanted to work in a vet’s office like her mom. Now, she plans to attend SEMO to study pre-physical therapy and then continue her education. Cadence’s advice to underclassmen: “Stay true to yourself and don’t let anyone change you—don’t give in to the pressure.” As graduation approaches, she says she feels “excited and ready for it to be here.” She knows she will miss seeing her friends, her first-hour class, and the consistency that high school brings. The people who have influenced her the most are her parents, because “they have been my greatest influence. They have always shown up for me, pushed me to do my best, supported my dreams, and shown me unconditional love.” Cadence feels that her biggest accomplishment so far is maintaining her GPA.
Shoutouts: My parents, Corbin, Terri, Braz, Canyon, and The Stooges.
