Picture of Sara

Sara Lynn Koenig was born on October 13, 2006, to Shari and Randy Koenig. She has one sibling, Garret Koenig. Her favorite teachers are Mrs. Stegeman, Mr. Ridings, and Mr. Boyer, as they always make her laugh and are there to listen to anything and everything she has to say, “whether they like it or not”. In three words, Sara would describe herself as determined, comical, and practical. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would choose Greece because she wants to see the islands, enjoy the scenery, and learn about the history. Her favorite school memories include stressing about homecoming hallways and dancing with her friends every year. A standout memory for her was when she was called into Shawn’s office for a bullying report, and just as they were about to start, the power went out. Despite this, they continued their meeting using his phone flashlight in a jar. As a child, Sara dreamed of becoming a teacher. After high school, she plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University to earn her Bachelor’s in Pre-Vet Medicine, followed by attending Mizzou for her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine to become a large animal veterinarian.

Sara is actively involved in BETA, FBLA, FFA, FCA, FCCLA, Pep Club, and Student Council. Her advice to underclassmen is don’t be afraid of change, embrace it. When asked how she feels about graduating, she said, “I’ve been ready to graduate since my junior year, so I’m excited, although I will miss my friends and teachers.” One thing she will miss about high school is relaxing in the FEMA half the day, gossiping and complaining about various topics with her friends, as well as seeing her classmates every day. The people who have influenced her the most are her mom and dad, “They’ve taught me hard lessons, stood behind my decisions, and supported me throughout my whole life. I will always be grateful God blessed me with the best parents ever.” Sara considers her biggest accomplishment to be her academic progress over the past four years of high school, stating, “It is not easy.” She is also proud of taking and passing enough dual credit classes to complete her first year of college.
