Jayden Burney was born on June 15, 2007, to Misty Jones. She likes all of her teachers because they have all made a significant impact on her life. Her favorite quote from a staff member comes from Mrs. Gray: “Continue to do great things; I’m so proud of you.” Three words Jayden would use to describe herself are determined, passionate, and outgoing. If she could travel anywhere in the world, Jayden would choose New Orleans to experience the Night Watch. One of her favorite school memories is sleeping in the library until CTC, as she had completed all her work. Her most embarrassing high school memory occurred during her junior year when she accidentally threw a water bottle at a classmate during advisory, causing a big mess. When Mr. Shrum realized what happened, he gave her a very disappointed look.
As a child, Jayden wanted to be a neurologist. After high school, she plans to take the National Registry EMT test to get her license and work part-time. Then, she intends to attend St. Louis Community College to become a funeral director and embalmer. She is also involved in FBLA. Jayden’s advice to underclassmen is, “It’s important to not only finish strong but to start strong as well.” When asked about graduating, she feels a mix of emotions. She will especially miss sleeping in the library after high school. The people who have had the greatest influence on her are Mrs. Gray and her mom, as they encouraged her to finish school, especially during times when she considered dropping out. Jayden believes her biggest accomplishment so far is being a part of the Woodland Fire Department.
