Lane Edwin VanGennip was born on June 13, 2004 to Alex and Alisa VanGennip. He has two siblings, Hayden and Alexsa. Lane is a member of FFA, FCA, FBLA, Beta Club, and Pep Club. He is also a member of the baseball, basketball, and track and field teams. When asked if he could travel anywhere in the world, VanGennip said he would travel throughout Europe to see all the different countries and cultures. He would also love to see the mountain ranges all the way to the beaches. Three words that describe Lane are athletic, adventurous, and ambitious.

VanGennip’s favorite staff quote that has stuck with him throughout high school is from Mr. Kinder, “Get to class, where you’re supposed to be.” His favorite teachers are Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Ridings, and Mrs. Balzer. These teachers are his favorites because of “all the different things we got to build and do outside in Ridings, like mark-recaptures to clearing out plots of understory. Mrs. Balzer, she is just awesome, she is funny to talk to and is always willing to help you.”

While growing up VanGennip wanted to become a New York City hot dog vendor, he now plans to attend college at Batesville, Arkansas where he will be furthering his athletic and academic career by playing baseball and studying engineering. His favorite high school memory is senior pranks his junior year. Lane’s biggest accomplishment so far has been receiving his 1,000 points for high school basketball. When VanGennip was asked about graduating, he stated that he is ready to start the next chapter, but is sad that it went by so quickly. VanGennip’s advice to underclassmen is to enjoy your time here and make the most out of it. Lane is excited about his next steps, but will miss “all my friends and teachers, working outside on the school farm, hanging out in the office with the office moms, and annoying Mr. Kinder.” His Mom and dad have had the greatest influence on him. “They always push me to do my best and help me with anything I need.”

VanGennip would like to give a shoutout to his Dad, Mom, Grandpas, Grandmas, Aunts, Uncles, and Ally.
